​​​​​​​Greetings:  My name is Helen Teifer and I am the Religious Education Administrator for the Shrine Church of St. Jude.  On this page you will find information about formal Religious Education for children.  Currently Shrine Church of St. Jude Religious Education is for children in Grades 1 - 8.

On the side, under the Blessed Mother you will find various resources.  I periodically add and change.

Below is information about our formal Religious Education for children.  Under the Sacrament heading there is detailed information for each sacrament.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN GRADES 1 - 8

INFORMATION FOR 2022 - 2023

Program began  on Sunday, September 18, 2022. 

Parent & Child

Levels 1 - 7 (grades 1-7) meets on most Sundays from 10:00 am to noon.

Fees: 1 child $100, 2 or more $150

Parents are responsible for taking their children to Sunday Mass before or after class. (Saturday - 5:30 pm, Sunday - 8:30 am or 12:30 pm)

For parents who elect to attend the 8:30 Mass - there will be an early drop-off beginning at 9:30 am.

Family Participation - Three times a year we ask our families to join in and celebrate as an entire community.  These celebrations are during scheduled class times.  (Opening Day - September 18, Christmas Celebration - December 18 &  Closing Day - tba)​

First Holy Communion/Penance - Any Baptized Catholic child who wishes to receive the Sacraments of Penance and Eucharist must be in the 2nd grade or above and must have attended two years of consecutive formal religious education prior to the sacraments. 

The Sacrament of Penance will be celebrated in March and the sacrament of First Holy Communion will be celebrated in May. 

Prior to receiving the sacraments, children with their parents are required to attend four preparation meetings which will take place on Saturday afternoons throughout the year. (Dates, times and additional information will be provided at a later date.)

Level 8 Confirmation class meets on Saturday evenings. 

Confirmation program fees: 
Registration $50  & Sacrament fee $100

 Confirmation  - Students must be in at least 8th Grade and have had at least 2 years of formal Religious Education (Catholic school or Religious Ed) prior the current year to be eligible to receive this sacrament.   All parish children  who are in 8th grade or above who attend Catholic or Non-Catholic school are to attend the Shrine Church of St. Jude Confirmation-prep program. 

Confirmation Class for 2022/2023 will begin October 8, 2022

Confirmation classes  meet on TWO Saturday afternoons a month,  4:00 pm - 6:30 pm.  This time includes the 5:30 Mass which is mandatory, unless the student is attending a Sunday Mass with their family.

Students will be required to complete assigned lessons prior to class.
