Schedule a Funeral

Please accept our condolences during this time of grief and pain. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we console one another through Christ’s victory over death. Our faith assures us that life is changed not ended, and when this mortal body returns to dust, we are clothed with immortality. It is our prayer that your loved one who has passed from this life will rest in peace in the merciful arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

In preparing for a funeral, it would be most helpful to provide the information in the form below to the priest who will celebrate the Mass, so that he will have an accurate portrait of the deceased. This information will also provide an opportunity to plan the Mass by choosing the readings and selecting the songs/hymns.

If you print out the form, please return the completed planning sheet to the rectory office or the funeral director as soon as possible. There is a possibility of allowing ONE eulogy after the Post Communion Prayer.

A priest or deacon will come to the funeral home to pray with your family the day before the Funeral Mass. At that time, he will be happy to answer any questions you may have. In addition, the Funeral director will also be of assistance to you in any way possible.

Please know that you are in our prayers as you grieve. If there is anything you need, please do not hesitate to ask. Remain Blessed.

Rev. Ikenna Okagbue, Pastor

About Cremation

In recent years, the Catholic Church has lifted the prohibition against the practice of cremation and has revised the rites for services with cremated remains. While the Church would prefer that cremation occur after the funeral liturgy it realizes that financial constraints or other circumstances often result in the desire for cremation before the funeral service. Grieving in the presence of the body over several days can help people deal with their loss.

The cremated remains can be brought into the church for the Funeral Mass. The Church discourages the practice of dividing or scattering cremated remains. It is important to note that the cremated remains should be buried in a cemetery or placed in a mausoleum, and this should occur as soon as possible after the Funeral Mass.

Please talk to a priest* as well as the funeral director about the procedures for funerals with cremated remains. The practice is still fairly new within the Church, and we want to proceed in as respectful and holy a manner as possible.

Offering / Stipend

It is customary that a stipend is offered to those who provide a service at the Funeral Mass: the celebrant and organist, professional soloist or cantor, and altar servers. A donation is made to the Parish as well. The funeral director will assist you in making these offerings.
