Holy Orders
Holy Orders is the ordination of a man to his vocation to the priesthood. In the Sacrament of Holy Orders, also known as Ordination, the priest being ordained vows to lead other Catholics by bringing them the sacraments (especially the Eucharist), by proclaiming the Gospel, and by providing other means to holiness. It also includes diaconate ordinations, and ordinations to the episcopacy, for Bishops.
The celebration of the sacrament of Holy Orders is reserved to the bishop. Any young man who believes he is being called to serve God as a priest should speak to the priests in his parish or contact Fr. Christopher Bethge, the diocesan vocations director, at (718) 827-2454.
Any married man who believes he is called to serve the church as a deacon should contact his Pastor or call the diocesan office. For those who are considering serving God as a consecrated sister or brother, please contact the pastor or the office of the vocations director of the diocese at (718) 827-2454.
